Film: M.S.Dhoni: The Untold Story

This movie paints the life of Indian Cricket Team Captain and wicketkeeper M.S.Dhoni. The road to Dhoni’s success as an International cricketer is not that easy as it appears. It is his sheer determination, passion towards the game Cricket and the people around him who played a vital role in making him a star player!

Storyline: This movie weaves the life of cricketer Mahendra Singh Dhoni. He is one of the most successful Indian Cricket team captains. He has earned his name in Cricket on the basis of his excellent talent. The audience gets to see Dhoni’s life in and out of cricket. Why did Dhoni choose the job of a Ticket Collector and even after working as a T.C. how did he manage to become a successful cricket captain? All this and more is brought out by film director Neeraj Pandey. He has done an excellent job with weaving the plot line without leaving any loopholes to mend.

Most Interesting Moments: There are several key moments shown in the film which affects Dhoni’s life. But there are two such instances which just attract your mind. The first moment is to see a small strife between cricketer Yuvraj Singh (Popular in Indian cricket team as Yuvi) and MS Dhoni when they played for two different regions. The former player played for Punjab while the latter played for Bihar. It was amazing to watch how they exchange eye-contact, irrespective of what the future had stored in for these two Indian masterpieces of Indian Cricket team.

The second most interesting moment was to once again see the World Cup 2011 finals of India versus Sri Lanka held at Wankhede stadium. Those who watched this match will remember that goose bump moment when Dhoni hit a massive hit for six runs and India won the World Cup match! This victory kissed the fortune of Indian cricket team after a breach of 28 long years.

Acting: Lead actor Sushant Singh Rajput who embarked his journey from Indian TV to Film must get the credit for being able to stick the audience to their seats. He has grabbed every inch of Dhoni’s style (The way Dhoni walks, talks, mimicking his smile and more) that gives the liveliness to this movie. Bhumika Chawla who has acted as Dhoni’s sister has played a strong part as side character. Her comeback into Bollywood is promising. Anupam Kher with his flawless acting plays well as Dhoni’s on-screen father.

Apart from these actors, the side characters also guide the lead character to the fame and success he has today.

Watch or not: Whether you are a die-hard Dhoni fan or not does not matter. His life story is simply inspiring and will make you smile throughout the movie. Do make some time to watch this movie.

Trivia:

1.       The film gives a sneak-peek into Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s love life.  Before falling in love with Sakshi (His current life partner) he had a close female friend called Priyanka. She met him on a plane and then onward they fell in love with each other. But due to an unexpected circumstance, their romance did not attain the next level.

2.       A dialogue in the film said by the character A.K. Ganguly is very interesting. He says, in life all the balls (Here it means situations in life) are not the same. Some are bouncers; some are in-swingers etc. Hence when the difficult ball is coming just learn to just duck it.
